Born in South Africa, I live in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.
I am a full time Visual Art teacher who has always produced artwork.
My drawings and paintings are about womanhood with reference to personal, sacred and universal contexts. There has been an attempt to present the societal expectations of women in conjunction with experienced reality in a layering of ideals, form, function, history and memory.
Some works have included camisoles, veils and lace as well as fragments, layers or skins of old letters to me in Australia from my mother (now deceased), sister and friends in South Africa. These allude metaphorically to the interconnectedness of women/sisters and their ability to convey love, meaning and care.
